Introduction

The purpose of this Process is to allow the Shop, Stay & Play community to have a democratic voice in the removal of a Shopper review.

Process Steps

  • Any SSP review marked by 5 or more people as abusive (the "Review") will be removed from the SSP website and entered into the Process
  • The writer of the Review (the "Offender") and the abuse reporters will be notified by email of the Review removal and the Process
  • A review removal discussion (the "Discussion") will be opened in the Abusive Review Moderation Forum on the SSP Customer Support Site to allow supporters and opponents of the Review to make their case
  • The Discussion will be open for 7 days and is open to any SSP member
  • After the Discussion is closed, the SSP Moderators' Panel (the "Panel") will be asked to vote on the Review removal
  • A verdict will be rendered within 3 business days after voting is closed

Ruling

  • A ruling will be made using a simple majority
  • A quorum of 10 votes is required for a ruling to be made
  • Voting will remain open for whichever is later:
    • There is a quorum of votes
    • 7 days after the close of the Discussion
  • The Offender and the abuse reporters will be notified via email of the ruling

Verdicts

If Review removal is overturned:

  • The Review will be reinstated
  • A notice of the verdict will be made on the Review.
  • A case may be reopened 3 months after a ruling is rendered

If Review removal is upheld:

  • A record of the ruling is made in Abusive Review Moderation Forum
  • The Offender is prohibited from making a review on the offended business's site for 6 months
  • If this is Offender's third separate abusive review
    • The Offender's membership to the SSP website will be revoked
    • The Offender will be prohibited from rejoining the SSP website (e.g., if Offender is found to be subscribing to the SSP site using a different email address, the Offender's new membership will be revoked)

SSP Moderators' Panel (the "Panel")

  • The Panel will consist of 21 members
    • Lake County Chamber CEO (can only vote to break a tie)
    • Any SSP member
  • Requests to join the Panel will be made by completing the SSP Moderators Panel Application (found at the bottom of this post)
  • Applications will be reviewed and approved by the Board of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce
  • Panel members will agree to follow the Panel's Code of Conduct (found in the SSP Moderators Panel Application at the bottom of this post)
  • Any Panel member not actively participating in voting (i.e., no votes made in 3 months or in the 3 latest vote requests) or found in breach of the Panel's Code of Conduct will be removed
  • Panel makeup will be reviewed regularly by the Board of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce
  • Panel members may be removed for any reason by the Board of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce
